A surprise motion and vote last night, has seen California Lawmakers unanimously vote in favour of succeeding from the union and becoming a Canadian Province.

In a 92 to 2 vote in the California State Senate a motion was passed that will begin a process similar to Brexit in the United Kingdom. Some pundits have already dubbed the bill "California Leaving".

During the lengthy debate that spanned into the late hours several speakers touted the already massive amount of Canadians that live in California as an example of cross border co-operation. Burbank County Councillor Andy Dick touted how "Prime Minister Justin Trudeau" already looked like a Hollywood actor and would fit right in. Bryce McNall Jr of Los Angeles County proudly displayed a picture of himself with Wayne Gretzky and suggested the "Great One" could lead the transition team along with Mike Myers and Kiefer Sutherland who would assist with security.

Some of the biggest benefits that had California lawmakers excited was the unlimited access to Canada's water, cheese curd and gravy supplies. After the vote, the sense of euphoria was palpable. It was unclear whether this move by California would prompt some type of military action or whether President Trump would even care. In an early morning tweet, the ever eloquent Trump tweeted "Don't Let The Door Hit Your @ss On The Way Out" which might indicate his mood.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who is currently on his latest "selfies with the people tour" was unavailable for comment. Apparently, one of the provisions of the bill would allow California to return to the United States if Kevin O'Leary ever gets elected Canadian Prime Minister. The State Speaker Lirpa Loof prounounced "in March we started out as Americans and then on April 1st we could be part of Canada! It doesn't get better than that! Break out the Back Bacon!"
